It becomes illegal because the shooter chose to murder civilians and record it for entertainment. Remember his words, soon it may be illegal to watch this video as well I don’t trust the general public to make that decision on their own. As it stands, I agree that the lockdown to avoid making the shooter a celebrity is correct. It could lead to a slippery slope, but that hasn’t happened - if it does, I’ll be up in arms. I don’t need to see the video to know that the tragedy happened, as it’s widely reported. The people who died for the video didn’t sacrifice themselves for the liberty of that video, it only serves as something to give the shooter notoriety. I disagree, because fundamentally human lives are more important. Should war documentaries be outlawed? Does watching a video about mass murder make you a mass murderer? How can anyone be okay with this? I'm not talking about 4chan, fuck that website anyway, I'm talking about the restriction of freedom and that it's a fucking crime to watch a video about a tragedy. It's horrible that so many people have died but some things are greater than lives, and slippery slopes are a very dangerous thing. 4chan is now blocked in NZ along with Liveleak and 8chan, even though 4chan had literally fucking nothing to do with the shooting. This is the worst part of all of this.
